220mm Reclaimed Douglas Fir Flooring

Our 220mm wide reclaimed Douglas Fir floorboards are cut from old joists and beams, giving you a bold, spacious solid wood floor full of natural character and history. The generous width creates fewer joints across the room, making these boards ideal for open-plan living areas, larger rooms and period properties.

Key Features

  • Width: 220mm (approx. 9") ± 5mm with tongue & groove / 225mm with straight edge
  • Thickness: 20mm solid timber
  • Edge options: Tongue & groove or straight edge
  • Lengths: Random lengths typically 1–4 metres (most boards 3–4m)
  • Surface: Planed smooth and flat – light sanding recommended after installation
  • Character: Distinctive grain patterns, natural colour variation, nail holes and small cracks

Why Choose Reclaimed Douglas Fir?

Douglas Fir is a strong, resinous timber with an attractive grain and warm traditional tones. Because these boards are reclaimed from slow-grown older stock, they are denser and more stable than modern plantation timber. You get a hardwearing solid wood floor that feels authentic and full of history – something new wood simply cannot match.

The 220mm width is particularly popular for creating a clean, contemporary wide-plank look while still retaining the character of genuine reclaimed timber.

Reclaimed pitch pine used to make wooden flooring

Why reclaimed pine?

We make our reclaimed pine flooring from beams and timbers salvaged from old buildings. This older timber was grown more slowly than modern wood, resulting in tight-grained pine floorboards which are more hardwearing and long-lasting.

Reclaimed pine floorboards are ideal for period properties, particularly if you’re trying to match or replace Victorian pine floorboards or Edwardian pine flooring. It’s full of character, with knots, nail holes and cracks, in-keeping with older houses requiring a more traditional look.

Our reclaimed pine flooring also boasts a beautiful mix of colours - pinks, greys and yellows!

Machine used for tongue and groove flooring

Tongue & groove or straight edge?

A tongue and groove edging helps to line floorboards up when laying your flooring and prevents draughts due to the snug fit. As the boards are interconnected, it also strengthens the finished flooring.

Straight edge floorboards are a little quicker to install and can be retrofitted more easily than tongue and groove flooring.
