Ayous Thermowood cladding boards made from heat-treated Ayous boards for increased stability, with an extended tongue and groove edging to produce a single, double or triple shadow gap profile.

Thermowood is a simple heat modifying process which involves no chemicals to achieve Class 1 durability. The process increased dimensional stability and gives Ayous similar properties to Cedar. Ayous is roughly 400kg/m3 making it a very light hard wood cladding option.

  • 18mm thick
  • Shadow Gap Profile (10mm wide)
  • Clear 4 sides grade
  • Soft even grain patterns clear of knots for a very clean modern look
  • Class 2 BS EN 35Q - 2 durability grade
  • Ayous is classed as a hard wood and comes is native to central and west Africa
  • Tongue and groove edging
  • Cladding board lengths are approximately 2-5 metres (6.5-16.5ft), usually 2.5-3m

Why redwood pine?

Scandinavian redwood, also known as Scots pine, is a very affordable solid wood flooring option. It has a lovely grain pattern and, as a lighter-coloured wood, it’s highly versatile, taking a wide variety of stain colours.

Alternatively, if you’re planning on painting your flooring or laying it as a subfloor, redwood pine floorboards are a cost-effective solution.

Tongue & groove or straight edge?

A tongue and groove edging helps to line floorboards up when laying your flooring and prevents draughts due to the snug fit. As the boards are interconnected, it also strengthens the finished flooring.

Straight edge floorboards are a little quicker to install and can be retrofitted more easily than tongue and groove flooring.
