Coming Soon: Matching Scandinavian Redwood Pine Skirting Boards (and Oak to Follow)

One of the most frequent questions we receive after customers order floorboards is simple: “Do you do skirting to match?” Until now the answer has been that we focus on the flooring itself and leave joinery details to other suppliers. That is about to change.

We will shortly be introducing a range of skirting board options, starting with profiles machined from the same Scandinavian redwood pine we use for our solid floorboards. Oak skirting will follow a little later. The aim is straightforward — to make it easier for customers to create a coherent timber finish from floor to wall without hunting around for a close colour or grain match.

Our existing Scandinavian redwood pine floorboards (available in both the established narrower width and the newer 162 mm option) can be viewed here: Scandinavian Pine Flooring / Redwood Pine Floorboards.

Why Matching Skirting Matters

Skirting is one of those elements that only becomes noticeable when it is wrong. A different species, a mismatched stain, or a profile that feels out of scale with the floorboards can quietly undermine an otherwise well-chosen floor. Using the same timber for both the floor and the skirting creates visual continuity. The grain, the knot character and the way the wood takes a finish all align, so the junction between floor and wall feels intentional rather than improvised.

Scandinavian redwood is particularly well suited to this approach. Its pale, light-reflective colour and distinctive knots give it a recognisable character. When the same material runs up the wall as skirting, the whole room reads as a single timber scheme. This works equally well in contemporary interiors that favour clean lines and in more traditional settings where softwood has always been part of the palette.

Scandinavian Redwood Pine Skirting – The First Release

The initial range will be machined from the same prime Scandinavian redwood sideboards that go into our floorboards. Because the timber is already familiar to us, we can control quality and moisture content in the same way we do for flooring. Customers who have already chosen (or are about to choose) our redwood pine boards will be able to order skirting that is a genuine match rather than an approximation.

We expect to offer a selection of common profiles so that different architectural styles can be accommodated. Exact sizes and profiles will be confirmed closer to launch, but the emphasis will be on practical, widely used sections that sit comfortably with both the narrower and the wider floorboard options.

Because the timber is the same species and grade, finishing becomes simpler. The same oil, hardwax oil, stain or paint that is used on the floorboards can be applied to the skirting for a unified result. Many customers prefer to finish the skirting after installation so that any fine adjustments or filling can be done before the final coats go on.

Oak Skirting – Coming a Little Later

Once the redwood pine skirting is established, we plan to introduce oak options. This will be particularly useful for customers who have chosen our European engineered oak flooring or who simply prefer the denser, more formal appearance of oak throughout. Oak skirting tends to feel more substantial and pairs naturally with wider engineered oak boards. Timing will depend on sourcing and machining capacity, but it is firmly on the roadmap.

Practical Benefits of Buying Skirting Alongside Flooring

Ordering both elements from the same supplier has several everyday advantages:

  • Colour and grain consistency is far easier to achieve.
  • Moisture content and drying history are aligned, reducing the risk of differential movement.
  • One delivery and one point of contact simplifies the logistics of a renovation.
  • Advice on profiles, heights and finishing can come from people who already understand the floorboards the skirting will sit above.

For larger projects it also means the same timber batch can be used for both, which is helpful when a very close match is important.

What Happens Next

We are currently finalising profiles, thicknesses and the practical details of machining and stock holding. As soon as the Scandinavian redwood pine skirting is ready to order we will update the website and let existing customers know. Oak will follow in a subsequent phase.

In the meantime, if you are planning a project and know you will want matching skirting, it is worth mentioning this when you enquire about floorboards. We can then keep you informed of progress and help you think about quantities and timing.

The floorboards themselves remain available now in both widths, planed and ready for installation. Full details are on the product page linked above.

A More Complete Timber Offering

Adding skirting is a natural extension of what we already do. We have always supplied solid and engineered flooring with the expectation that customers will want a coherent finish throughout the room. Making the skirting available in the same Scandinavian redwood (and later in oak) simply closes that gap.

Whether you are fitting a new pine floor in a renovation, updating an existing room, or specifying materials for a larger project, the ability to order matching skirting from the same source should make the finishing stages more straightforward and more consistent.

We will share exact profiles, pricing and availability as soon as they are confirmed. Until then, feel free to get in touch if you have a project on the horizon and would like to be kept up to date.
