Our customer in Scotland sent through some lovely pictures after installing some of our Pitch Pine Flooring in their house.
These boards are 5.5" wide by 20mm random length pitch pine. Cut from large reclaimed pitch pine beams. There is plenty of character but no large holes or damage. We remove a lot of boards that have significant issues so there isn’t a lot of filling or repair work to do during installation.
If you want to put an extremely stable (more so than oak) solid wood floor in your home this is the perfect timber for you. Due to the age of the reclaimed pitch pine beams they are thoroughly dry with no stress. This means when the floorboards are cut they don’t twist and bow like modern quick kiln dried timber.
Pitch pine is a very durable strong flooring type. It's got lovely patterns like a pine but is very dense like a hard wood. It also has a low knot count like hardwoods. There is a lot of resin in pitch pine which makes it very durable and resistant to insect and water damage.
Take a look at the pictures here showing the finished floor to get an idea of what pitch pine floorboards look like when installed. I think you will agree the finished result looks fantastic!
