We have purchased a new cross cutting saw to help speed up production of our pitch pine flooring. It’s an upcut saw which means the blade come up from the bed to cut the floorboards. When trimming the ends of pine flooring or cutting floorboards to length it is important to have a nice square edge which this machine produces perfectly.
Roller tables in and out help move the rough sawn pitch pine floorboards into the saw ready for cutting. The machine is controlled via pneumatics so when the operator is ready the clamp comes down to secure the pine flooring followed by the saw blade being forced upwards to cut the floorboards. After the cut has finished the clamp is released from the floorboard ready to start again with the next piece of pine flooring.
Here are a selection of pictures from when the new saw was installed in our new workshop. We had to install a new dust extractor too so that there is enough extraction power to suck up all the dangerous sawdust that gets thrown up during cross cutting.
With each improvement we can offer quicker turnarounds on orders so if you are needing some pitch pine flooring quickly please get in touch and we will be able to give you a good idea on timescales.
